  1. 168-170, the chorus is begging for Apollo to help them. They are talking to all people and just make big summaries of what was just talked about. They have not heard the news that Creon brought. They will do anything for Apollo's help. They are calling for Artemis, Athena's sister, Zeus' daughter, because she is the guardian of the Earth. People are Thebes are desperate for help. They want the war and death to leave the city. They want Apollo to get rid of the enemies.
186-187 they talk about they want to know who is causing all this trouble in Thebes. They talk about Apollo getting rid of the enemy that is doing so. People should do whatever they can to find this person or people. They are never going to accuse O that he is the one responsible for this.

  2. The chorus basically summarizes things and explains things to the audience. They function as commentators mostly, and don't seem to really be noticed by the people. They plead the people's case to the gods in these two appearances and beg for peace, health, and comfort for the people of Thebes.

  3. The main purpose of the chorus is to explain what is happening in the story to the audience. They are basically their for commentary but the characters in the story don't seem to notice they are there. During the first act they beg he gods for help. In both instances where they show up in the first act the believe there is no other way to get rid of this curse without Zues' help, so they want better health for their people. This is what the chorus is mainly talking about.

  9. The chorus, i feel, tells us what happens in the city and the trouble, but i also see them talking to the Gods and asking for help on theirown as if they are just simply speaking for the people.

  10. The chorus says a lot about what is going on in their time. They talk about the background (also summarizing what is being said by the people) of the city of Thebes along with its suffering and unanswered issues. They comment, also, on the gods. They, for example, on pages 168-170 show the chorus talking up to Apollo for help. They pray to the gods for help in their city and for him to rid them of enemies. Almost as if they are speaking for the people of Thebes.

  11. The chorus seems to give keys to what is going to happen and was has happend in the past. If you look close enough into it. They seem very connected to the gods like on page 168 wen they are trying to figure out what zeus told them to do about the death in their town. They let people know how the people in thebes are feeling and seems like a generalzation of all the people.

  13. The chorus is kind of narrating the story for the reader. The chorus helps the reader paint a mental picture of what is actually going on. The Chorus is calling O to save Thebes from the plague that is coming. O lives up to their expectations and does just that!
