  1. T apparently "sees" through Apollo's eyes. He is also a prophet, and is coming to tell O the truth about why the town of Thebes is going downward. O asks him what is killing the city. T says that he will never reveal his dreadful secrets. O starts getting irritated with him and T strikes back at him "I say you are the murderer you hunt." (Page 180) O throws insults at T but the blind prophet is not impressed. T tells O that Apollo will work all of this out. O gets mad at Creon for a bit because he thinks he planned for this man to come and insult him. T finally leaves with his final speech that O cannot destroy him. And the person that murdered Laius is there with them. From this meeting, I think O has quite the temper. Maybe he is short tempered because he wants his city back in order? Or maybe it is just that way. O also gets mad at Creon, but he didn't really have much purpose to. He was playing the blame game.

  2. Tiresias is a blind prophet who "sees" things that the gods do/tell him. He goes to Oedipus and tells him basically that he doesn't want to tell him, because he knows that Oedipus is the murderer. Finally, after a lot of arguing, Tiresias gets so frustrated that he just says, "Is that so! I charge you, then, submit to that decree you just laid down: from this day onward speak to no one, not these citizens, not myself. YOU are the curse, the corruption of the land!" This passage basically tells me that Oedipus is a blind fool who's pride (hubris) blinds him.

  3. Teiresias knows that Oedipus did it that he killed his father and married his mother because the profecy said so. Teiresias doesnt want to tell him that it was he who did it, because he was saying all these things that who ever did it will be banished. Oedipus keeps pushing him to do it then finally he says "The killer you are seeking is yourself." (36) Oedipus gets all defensive and snaps that burst of anger could be the same anger that he displayed when killed his father. He keeps yelling at Teiresias and saying he is a liar and he shouldn't be saying that stuff to him.

  4. Teiresias knows that Oedipus is the one who killed Liaus because he strongly believes in the prophecy so he also knows that he is married to his mother. O and T throw accusations back and forth between each other. "I say you are the murderer you hunt" (180). Then O also turns on Creon and says he was plotting to kill O. "Creon is to blame, Creon schemes against me" (200). T is blind but he "sees" things that the Gods want him to see.

  5. T is a blind prophet that can see threw Apollos eyes. He knows that Opedius killed Laius his father he also knows that O is married to his mother. T and O had a long arguement and threw comments back and forth at each other. You cannot imagine.. i tell you, you and your loved ones live together in infamy, you cannot see how far youve gone in guilt. (pg 180)

  7. Tiresias is the blind seer.. which i've come to believe is a very greek thing.
He tells Oedipus that he is the killer and not knowing he had every killed a king, let alone his father, he is in denial.HE spent much time telling the people that eeryone saying these things were making false accusations and would be killed when really... it's him he's threatening.

  8. There main characteristic that I saw in Oedipus was his anger. When Tiresias, a blind man who is made aware of things by the gods, comes to talk to Oedipus he is very hesitant. Tiresias knows that Oedipus is the murderer, but does not want to say so for he will be angry. He eventually tells Oedipus and Oedipus' immediate reaction was anger. He went off on Tiresias not wanting to hear such speak of himself. He says that is a lie. Once Tiresias leaves he tells Creon he wants him dead because he is at a fault for Tiresias coming and saying those words. He was because he had a part in the words he spoke.

  9. Oedipus and Tiresias got into quite a heated fight. T is able to see what has hapend and will happen like a fortune telling. So O comes to him to see if he knows who killed Laius, but T will not tell him who it was because he says that O would not like to know. They fight for awhile while O is trying to convinse T to tell him who it was. Finally T says that it was him "I say you are the murderer you hunt" (180). He was very angry that T was acusing him of something he didn't think he has done.

  11. O doesnt want to accept what Tiresias has said probably because it hit home with him. He killed his own father so T called him out on it!! I wouldv'e done the same thing, In T's shoes.

  12. Teiresias blamed Oedipus for killing his own father. T gets told things that no one else knows about from the gods. and so when he accuses O of killing his father, O freaks out and goes crazy on T.

  13. T is a blind prophet and he blames O for killing his father and knows that T did it. He can see threw apollos eyes and knows O killed his mother and married her because the proify said so. O doesnt want to believe accept or take blame for what T says because it is really true and it hit home to him as jake stats. O has alot of anger and cant accept that he did it. He doesnt know that he did it but yet in a way he does he just wont accept it for what it is. Anger has gotten to him.

  14. T was blaming O for killing jis fathr and O didnt want to believe it because he new it would mess up his whole life. He also relized how it would destroy family and. ruin his daughters life. T knows these things from the gods cause they tell him things that no one else knows about. O get upset and starts to get really mad at T when he really didnt do anything but tell the truth.

  15. T is blamming Oedipus for killing his father. Oedipus is denying that it happend because he didnt know that it was his father who he killed. He is having trouble admitting it because he knows it will mess up everything he has wanted. Oedipus then gets very upset with T and they get into a argument.
